Strawberries – You can include frozen strawberries as is listed in the keto shake recipe or there’s raspberries, blueberries or blackberries that are also low carb friendly.

Experiment with different varieties of frozen berries as the main ingredient, to find a berry milkshake that’s perfect for you.

If you’re using fresh berries, then throw in some ice cubes to create a frosty shake without ice cream.

Choice of low carb frozen berries

Heavy Cream – add in healthy fats and luxurious creaminess by blending heavy whipping cream or coconut cream into your smoothie.

Unsweetened Almond Milk – or your keto friendly milk of choice, such as a can of coconut milk will keep the carb count of the shake down.

More Ingredient Ideas – here are ideas for other keto friendly ingredients to include in your shake:

Stevia – Depending on the sweetness of your fruit, you may want to add a couple of teaspoons of stevia or your sweetener of choice. You could also use monk fruit sweetener, powdered erythritol, liquid stevia or your low carb friendly sweetener of choice instead.

Vanilla – add in a half a teaspoon of vanilla extract for a keto dessert milkshake with authentic vanilla flavor.

Chia Seeds – the tiny nutritional powerhouses add in fiber, healthy fats and will thicken your shake.

Xantham Gum – just a quarter of a teaspoon blended into the shake can make it extra creamy without the need for carby vanilla ice cream or other ingredients.

Strawberry Extract – to enhance the flavor of your shake, so you can use less strawberries (and carbs) without sacrificing the sweet berry flavor. (Find strawberry extract on Amazon.)

Protein Powder – turn your shake into a meal by adding a scoop of your go to keto protein powder.

Chocolate – incorporate a half to a teaspoon of cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder for a chocolate berry shake or you can grate dark chocolate over the top of your creamy milkshake. (like in the below pictured Keto vanilla milkshake.)

Grated chocolate topped milkshake

MCT Oil or Coconut Oil – make your shake more satisfying and keep you fuller for longer by adding MCT or Coconut Oil. (Be aware though if you’re starting out with MCT or coconut oil – start small and work your way up to including more in your diet, as it may cause stomach cramping if you’re not used to it.)

Gelatin or Collagen Powder – to thicken your shake and add in nutritious, pure protein.

Limes

Lemon Or Lime – Zest or juice to add in nutrition and flavor.

Salt – You can enhance the flavor of sweet foods by adding in a sprinkling of salt – give it a try and you’ll discover a sweet strawberry milkshake!
