Today has been one of those incredibly busy, not a moment wasted kind of Saturdays.
First we went to a friends birthday party this morning, in the Eltham area, which is about 50 minutes away from us.
The kids were incredibly well behaved on the car journey, and we even managed to stop for a sneaky organic coffee from Cacao Green on the way.
It’s one of my favorite coffees in Melbourne and was a real indulgence! Here’s me with my perfect coffee… you’ve got to love the Thomas window in the car behind me! (A note for my American readers – I wasn’t drinking coffee and driving, we drive on the opposite side here in Australia. My wonderful Husband was driving while I enjoyed my Cacao Green Coffee!)
The kids had a ball at the party. Running, jumping and playing with friends.
After the party we went to The Burger Lounge for a late lunch of delicious grass fed, free range burgers. The kids were a little excited after the party and we were all ready to tuck into a burger.
The burgers didn’t dissapoint. They were generous in size and delicious.
Instead of opting for kids meals, I went for the classic burger and shared it for the kids. We all shared a bowl of chips between the four of us and it was more than enough. Here’s the burger the kids shared. And yes, they ate the onions and green leafy vegetables!
My husband and I enjoyed a “Grande” Burger each, which included avocado, pineapple, crispy smoked beef and overflowing with leafy greens.
Eating out is a real treat for us. We do it a couple of times a month and choose to eat where we can find organic/grass fed/free range options.
Needless to say, my youngest fell asleep on the car journey back home…
When we eventually got home the boys played for the remainder of the afternoon, while my Husband and I took a quick breather and then set about making them a bite for dinner.
On these sorts of days, the meals I cook are quick, yet wholesome. I went for a bag of organic pasta, and served it with some corn I cooked quickly and I sliced a few cheese triangles to round out the meal.
I found these cute organic elk-shaped pasta at Ikea! I like to keep a couple of bags in the pantry for days like today.
