Ants On A Log
From time to time I treat my kids to Ants On A Log as a fun snack. It’s a quick to prepare, my kids find it fun snack plus the snack provides delicious nourishment between meals. So, a win-win all around!
Sometimes, as a change from the traditional “Ants On A Log”, I also top the logs with nuts, making them “Nuts On A Log”!
To make ants on a log, wash and trim celery to form hollowed out “logs”.
Then, fill the logs. Here’s a selection of Spread Variations which you can fill your celery sticks/logs with:
- Peanut Butter – Smooth or Crunchy
- Nut Butter – Almond, Cashew, Macadamia etc.
- Hummus
- Ricotta
Finally, top them with your “ants” or another topping Variation:
- Sultanas/Raisins/Cranberries
- Nuts/Seeds
- Finely diced peppers
I’ve also made a quick video for you:
My 6 year old mildly enjoys the snack while his 4 year old brother ADORES it and wolfs down celery stick after celery stick filled with nourishing nut butter and topped with a sweet cranberry.
