Dairy Free Keto Diet

The other day in my 5 month Keto Diet Update I mentioned that I’m going to address my dairy intake. I LOVE dairy and enjoy WAY too much of it.

So, it’s time to start thinking about ways to significantly reduce my daily dairy intake. Just to be clear – I’m not completely eliminating dairy from my diet. I’m going to enjoy some dairy free keto days and then on other days enjoy small amounts of dairy, in moderation… Something I REALLY need to learn!

First step was going grocery shopping to fill my kitchen with non dairy items which I could enjoy in place of my dairy favourites, to round out my meals.

Here’s a look at what I got:

Some of my dairy free keto strategies include:

  • Using more avocado and avocado oil to add more fat and tastiness to meals.
  • Cook more with coconut oil and less with butter.
  • Enjoy more nuts (in moderation) as salad toppings and in place of my favourite strawberries and cream for snacks.
  • Swap dairy ingredients for coconut milk/cream/almond milk.
  • Swap sour cream on salads for mayo or other creamy, dairy free dressings.

It’s only been a couple of days and it’s been interesting to find ways to swap my dairy favourites for non dairy alternatives, finding creative ways to stay Keto while enjoying every meal.
