Since I’ve moved in the direction of eating a more traditional, organic diet, options to eat out in Melbourne have been few and far between. Enter Jus Burgers – South Yarra…
What I love about Jus Burgers – South Yarra is that they source their ingredients locally, in Victoria, their Beef and Lamb Burgers are Grass Fed and Hormone Free, also having the option of an Organic Beef Burger. Plus – they have a strict “No Freezer Allowed” Policy – so all their produce is fresh.
Jus Burgers – South Yarra also happens to be wonderfully kid friendly. The boys loved receiving their own colouring page and Mr 4, in particular, was inspired by the wall of completed pages and carefully coloured his own page. He was immensely proud of himself when his masterpiece was taped to the wall following our meal.
While there’s an array of mouth watering burgers on the Menu which I would have loved to try, I was most excited to sample The Organic Beef Burger ($14) at Jus Burgers – South Yarra. The quality was spectacular. Instantly you could tell that, in addition to being organic, every ingredient had been carefully and thoughtfully sourced and the burger had been lovingly and carefully prepared and cooked to perfection.
The Husband had The Wagyu Beef Burger ($15) and enjoyed a side of chips, green tomato pickle and Spanish slaw too. The burger was bursting with flavor from every corner. My Husband, usually a fast eater, ate SLOWLY… savoring every delectable bite.
The kids meals there are incredible value – just $8 gets you “The Grommit” – which includes a burger, chips & tomato sauce or a salad. The quality of the burgers easily matched that of the adults burgers. The serving size was enormous, and the kids needed a little help from us to finish them.
Other popular menu items include the Mozzarella Chicken Burger, Lamb Burger and The Pumpkin Burger.
Another impressive fact about Jus Burgers is that they have a separate fryer especially for vegetarian burgers. Even though I’m far from a vegetarian, I admire Jus Burgers for respecting their vegetarian customers so thoughtfully.
The experience was one to remember and one we will repeat again soon. I’m sure Mr 4 will be eager to check on his drawing!
I can only hope that more and more restaurants will move in the direction of providing locally sourced meals, and organic options – it’s the way of the future…
Jus Burgers is located on Chapel Street and is just a short walk from Prahran Market – perfect for a quick bite before or after a market shop.
