Today I took the boys on an outing to the South Melbourne Market. It’s one our favorite things to do in Melbourne – it’s got fresh food galore, including a number of organic stores and the boys always look forward to a yummy treat.
At Organic Produce you’ll find just that – a wonderful selection of fresh organic produce. You’ll see today’s shop in the bottom corner – my basket includes wintery parsnips, carrots, tomatoes and broccoli.
Our next stop is always Sourdough Bakehouse – Artisan Organic Genuine Sourdough for divine sourdough and sweet treats. The boys wanted a croissant each and I chose an Organic Apple Sourdough Scroll (I had half and managed to use my will power and saved the other half for my Husband!). I also couldn’t resist a loaf of Sourdough – one of my favorites in Melbourne!
Then it was time for us to enjoy our sourdough treats. Mr 4 is clearly proud to show of his mini croissant…

Another of our favorite South Melbourne Market stores is TOMS – The Organic Meat Specialist. The boys wanted sausages for dinner, so I got a few of those plus some chicken wings for stock making later in the week. Mr 2 ran eagerly towards TOMS and helped pick out his sausages – he loves his meat!
When you’re looking for what to do in Melbourne, a visit to South Melbourne Market is a must – just make sure you go with an empty stomach! The boys are already asking when we’ll be going back for more croissants!
South Melbourne Market is located at 322-326 Coventry Street, South Melbourne and is open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It’s easily accessible by public transport and on market days there is plenty of free parking.
