Today my 3 year old started Kindy – so it was our first official Lunch Box making day of 2014.
So, I thought I’d take this opportunity to share Our 2014 Lunch Box Routine. This year my 3 year old will be going to Kindy 3 days a week so I’ll have 3 “formal” lunch box preparation days a week. He’s home the rest of the week.
As for my 5 year old – he’s meant to be starting Prep in a few weeks time (that’s the 1st year of Primary School for my Amercian readers). He has already started as we have decided to Homeschool him rather than send him to formal school. I’ve been putting together our homeschooling curriculum for the past 6 months or so and now that we’ve actually started I felt it was about time I shared the news with you.
We’re excited for our homeschooling journey. We will take it term by term, year by year and for as long as it’s working and he’s thriving we will continue. You can expect a fair few cooking with kids segments through the year as he just loves learning in the kitchen!
Back to our lunch box routine – as my 5 year old will be home over lunch time I won’t actually have to make him a lunch box. However, this morning when he saw me preparing his brother’s kindy lunch box he decided that he would have his own homeschooling lunch box – and that he would make it himself. No complaints from me!
He put his lunch box together when we took a break from our workbooks. He did an incredible job – choosing avocado sandwiches, grapes, peas and corn.
In my 3 year old’s lunch box (pictured above) there are organic jam sandwiches, grapes, corn, mini tomatoes and watermelon.
Here are some of the cute bento accessories I included in his lunch box:
So, that’s our lunch box routine for 2014! I look forward to sharing future updates with you.
