The New Year brings with it New Year Resolutions – a will to make changes for the better in the new year for our health. Sticking to those resolutions can be tricky, so in this post I’ll share 10 Ways To Keep Your Health & Wellness New Years Resolutions In 2014.
2013 was a bit of a health and wellness roller coaster for me, I went into more details in the real food weight loss post I shared late last year. Things spiraled out of control for the remainder of 2013 and emotional eating just got the better of me, I’m afraid to say. 🙁
I’m eager to get back in control, with a clean slate and a fresh start in the New Year. So, this post is just as much about accountability for me as it is to help you.
1. Start Small
Setting small, realistic health and wellness goals is a great way to start. Making multiple small changes is way more effective than committing to making one huge change!
2. Be Specific
Set clear goals – Proclaiming that you will “lose weight and be healthy in 2014” is great, but actually being specific about what you want to achieve and be clear about how you want to achieve those goals.
3. Enlist Support
Seeking friends or family members who have similar goals will help you both be more accountable.
4. Don’t Let Slip Ups Ruin Your Motivation
Fumble don’t fall! This is one that I personally struggle with and will need to work on in 2014. I too often let a tiny slip get me into the state of mind of – oh well, I’ve slipped up, time to throw in the towel and try again soon.
We need to be strong together and just pick ourselves up and keep on going to achieve the goals we have set.
5. Set An Assessment Time-frame
Lets face it, quick fixes just don’t work. We need to be in it for the long haul and set a realistic time frame to achieve our goals in.
6. Take Action
Knowledge is power. Take action – reading the right books and eBooks will help you on your way to achieve your health and wellness goals by arming yourself with relevant knowledge to get you succeed.
7. Make A Clear Plan
Once you have set your goals and done some research about how you’re going to achieve your goals, set a clear and concise plan to map out the steps you’ll follow to achieve your plan.
8. Enjoy The Journey…
Cook new recipes, try new exercise regimes – just have fun and be adventurous!
9. Seek Inspiration
Making positive changes can be incredibly hard work, so sometimes a little inspiration goes a long way
10. Celebrate Success
No matter how trivial. Making positive changes can be hard – celebrate your success!
Over to you – please share your new years resolutions in the comments.
