24 Hours In Melbourne City- 10 Year Anniversary Celebrations
A couple of weeks ago my Husband and I celebrated our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary. My Mum looked after the kids for the day/night and we set off to enjoy 24 Hours In Melbourne City – kid free.
We walked from end to end, enjoying exploring the city just the two of us and eating our way around as we went.
Here are the highlights (minus the romantic, private moments!):
We started with lunch at Campari House on Hardware Lane. Pre-kids we enjoyed many an evening meal on bustling Hardware Lane and haven’t been back in AGES. I just adore wandering up and down Hardware Lane. There are so many cafes to choose from that it can be a tough choice.
We chose Campari House because the menu looked interesting. We ordered the Mushroom Pizza and Pumpkin & roasted baby beetroot risotto with spinach cream and feta to share.
The Mushroom Pizza was AMAZING. Weeks later my Husband is still raving about the rich flavour and that it was THE best pizza he has ever eaten. I tend to agree with him and look forward to going back again soon with the kids.
The risotto was also perfectly cooked, but was overshadowed in comparison to the pizza. It was a delicious dish and one I would order again.
Next, our wander took us to Emporium Melbourne, a newish destination packed full of shops, restaurants and more.
I just adore how there’s always something new to discover in Melbourne and on this instance it was a food court on the lower ground level of the Emporium. It was packed and bustling full of the lunch time crowd, so it was fun to soak up the atmosphere. We will be back soon to enjoy a meal at one of the many eateries!
Once we were done shopping at Emporium, we headed to Maxims – just for an egg tart each.
If you’re in Chinatown area, do yourself and favour and GO AND GET ONE!
The pastry is so crisp and filling so sweet that you’ll find it difficult to stop at one… you have been warned!
Following our indulgence we took a slow walk back to our hotel, winding our way through Bourke Street Mall and a couple of architecturally beautiful arcades. (Watch the video below to see for yourself!)
On walking through the Block Arcade we stumbled on the gorgeous window display (and the long queue) for the Hopetoun Tea Rooms. I always enjoy a “window shopping” experience, the cakes are works of art, don’t you think?
Finally we made it to our hotel and enjoyed a brief rest before heading back out into the city again for a little more sightseeing and dinner.
We explored Hosier Lane, where every surface is covered in striking street art. It’s a feast for the eyes and has to be seen to be believed!
We enjoyed a leisurely dinner at Terra Rossa where my Husband had a perfectly cooked Grass Fed Steak and I had Tagliatelle with lamb shoulder ragu. The meat was tender and the dish extremely flavourful.
We walked our dinner off by enjoying a final long wander through the city, ending our walk at Nitro Lab for an indulgent Gelato. I went for the Gaytime Crunch and it was so incredibly sweet and crunchy. A perfect end to an unforgettable day!
We stayed at Westin, Melbourne and on returning to our room after our day out we discovered a thoughtful hamper of goodies had been left in our room as an Anniversary suprise! (See more in the below video!)
