Healthy Grocery Haul Away From Home
A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my Birthday. Whenever I get the opportunity to, I like to escape my Birthday by flying off and going away from home for a holiday, ideally somewhere warmer than my currently Wintery home of Melbourne. This year we flew to the Gold Coast for 5 nights of fun away from home.
We stayed in an apartment with a full kitchen, so enjoyed most of our meals “home cooked”. The kitchen fridge and pantry was completely bare, so we needed to grocery shop on day 1 to fill the kitchen with nourishing food. Despite being exhausted following a day of travelling (including a 2 hour flight delay) we ventured out to the supermarket.
Conveniently, there was a Woolworths supermarket just a short walk from our apartment, which make grocery shopping a breeze.
We picked up all of our favourite items plus some holiday treats, but mostly healthy items to balance any not so healthy meals we would be enjoying at local cafes and restaurants.
My tactic is to stock up on tons of breakfast type foods so that we will be able to enjoy a full breakfast or breakfast for dinner after a big day out.
My strategy worked out perfectly! Here’s the full video of my healthy grocery haul away from home:
We ended up eating more meals from our apartment than I had anticipated and was grateful that we had so much nourishing food on hand to make easy meals from our healthy grocery haul.
I took heaps of videos of our Gold Coast family holiday and will share them with you soon!
