Amongst the 2300+ (!) photos from my recent family trip to London, there’s an enormous amount of photos of the Unforgettable London Food Experiences I’m still dreaming about…
Nordic Bakery
I discovered this gem while searching Instagram for London Food inspiration. The Cinnamon Scrolls looked divine, I just knew I had to find my way to the Nordic Bakery.
Luckily it’s located a short stroll from Hamleys, so while the kids and Husband shopped, I went on a Cinnamon Scroll expedition.
The Cinnamon Scrolls were AMAZING! Rich with cinnamon and simply perfection in a scroll.
Eat.
I lived in London from 2004 to 2006. There was an Eat a short walk from my work, so I regularly enjoyed their tasty delights for lunch. My all time favourite was the Tuna and Cheddar Melt. I indulged regularly and can’t resist whenever I’m back in London.
After all, it’s my sandwich of nostalgia… each friend/family member I have shared a Tuna Melt with has had an “eye roll moment” – it’s cheesy perfection and I shared 4 with my family over the course of 3 weeks!
Whole Foods
I was super excited anticipating my very first Whole Foods Shopping experience. There’s one conveniently located at Piccadilly Circus so was easily incorporated into our Hamleys shopping trip.
The selection of fresh and pantry goods available just blew me away and I enjoyed a wonderful shopping trip wandering through the store.
I bought a selection of nourishing drinks to share with the family. It was loads of fun sharing and sampling the tasty drinks together.
Selfridges – Food Hall
On one of our visits to London we walked from end to end of Oxford Street, stopping at shops and foodie spots along the way. The highlight being the Selfridges Food Hall.
Initially I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer variety of exotic foods and then when I took a closer look I found some incredible nourishing finds. There was a well stocked dairy fridge which included this Organic Kefir which was an incredibly delicious probiotic on the go.
We stopped for a bite at The Brass Rail which is known for producing remarkable Salt Beef Sandwiches. We went for a tongue sandwich to share and it was perfectly tender and one the BEST I’ve ever had.
Borough Market
I’ve saved the BEST for last. While my children’s highlight of the trip was our visit to Legoland, mine was our eating extravaganza at Borough Market – or as I referred to it – Legoland for Mummy!
We started with savory delights, marveling at the fresh fruit and vegetables including an unbelievable selection of exotic vegetables and mushrooms.
I sampled my first ever scotch egg. It was perfectly runny and crispy and the sweet potato fries on the side were adored by the whole family.
Next, it was on to sweet treats.
I can’t find the words to describe the mouthwatering delights on offer, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves…
My absolute highlight was the orange flavored turkish delight. I’ve never tasted anything like it. Even my Husband who is not a fan of turkish delight when NUTS for them!
Needless to say my kids also enjoyed the sweet treats, in particular the organic ice cream and giant meringues.
I enjoyed truly Unforgettable London Food Experiences and I can’t wait to go back again and enjoy it all over again!
