What To Do With Ripe Bananas
Lately I’ve been finding my fruit bowl OVERFLOWING with ripe bananas and I’ve been seeking more and more yummy ideas of what to do with ripe bananas.
Aside from the family eating them as snacks through the day, here are some other ideas of what to make with ripe bananas:
1. Frozen Banana Bites
Chop and freeze ripe bananas into bite sized pieces. Once they are frozen they have all sorts of uses, which I’ve shared below.
2. Smoothies
Use your frozen bananas or a mix of frozen and fresh bananas in your favourite smoothie or try the above pictured Minty Chocolate Green Smoothie.
Frozen bananas bring a delicious creaminess to smoothies and is definitely worth a try!
3. Nice Cream Or Smoothie Bowl
You’ll discover the easiest one ingredient ice cream (or “nice cream”) can be achieved by simply blending frozen bananas until smooth and creamy. Give it a try!
Your “nice cream” can be enjoyed as is or mixed with other fruit and yummy ingredients and topped with your sweet treat topping of choice.
Another alternative is mixing frozen bananas with other frozen fruit and nutritious ingredients for a smoothie bowl, like the one pictured above.
4. Pancakes
Did you know that you can make banana pancaked with just 2 Ingredients? I shared the recipe the other week here on the blog and it’s so easy and has received heaps of positive feedback. Click here for the 2 Ingredient Banana Pancakes Recipe.
5. French Toast
You can use the banana bread recipe below for Banana Bread French Toast or make it using fresh ripe bananas as I’ve outlined in my recipe for Banana Bread French Toast.
6. Banana Bread Recipe
To make a really easy banana bread with your ripe bananas, you’ll need:
- 125g Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1/2 Cup Raw Sugar
- 2 Eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 Large Ripe Bananas, Mashed
- 1.5 Cups Plain Flour
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and line a loaf tin with baking parchment.
- In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar together until well mixed.
- Add the vanilla and eggs and stir until combined.
- Stir through the bananas until well mixed.
- Finally gently mix through the flour and cinnamon until you have a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter into the loaf tin and pop it in the oven for 45 minutes to an hour.
- Check after 45 minutes and if a skewer comes out clean then it’s cooked. If not, then cook for a further 15 minutes or until cooked through and golden.
Here’s a video I put together for you which shows you how to make the banana bread and talks through what to do with ripe bananas:
