I adore cheese of all descriptions – cheddar, brie, smoked, mascarpone… there’s not a cheese I don’t enjoy in some shape or form. Halloumi is one of my favourites. The distinct saltiness and texture is irresistible and I love finding new ways to enjoy it.

This salad is one of the very best. The freshness of the tomatoes and oranges perfectly balances the saltiness and richness of the Halloumi and makes it a salad that will appeal Halloumi lovers and those who aren’t sure of the unusual cheese.

While I could eat Halloumi straight from the frying pan, the saltiness and crispiness is just incredible, this salad adds and extra element which is just so flavourful that I hold myself back and wait to construct the salad before devouring the deliciousness!

It’s so easy to construct this salad, you simply fry up your Halloumi until golden and then mix it together with your salad ingredients.

I opt for no salad dressing because the orange juice is sufficient to balance the salad, in my opinion. If you’d prefer to drizzle over your favourite salad dressing then go ahead and do so! This makes an easy keto bbq side dish.

Fried Halloumi Salad Recipe

  • 1 Pack of Halloumi, chopped into bite sized pieces
  • Coconut oil, for frying
  • 2 Cups Spinach Leaves (Or other greens)
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Orange Segments and Juice (from 1 large or 2 small oranges)
  1. Fry the Halloumi in a large frying pan in a little coconut oil.
  2. Once browned on one side flip and cook until golden on both sides.
  3. Remove the Halloumi to a plate or bowl.
  4. In a large salad bowl, combine the spinach, tomatoes, orange segments and juice.
  5. Top with the cooked Halloumi.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
