Buffet Style Experiment

Do you every find that by the time dinner rolls around your little Darling is exhausted and doesn’t want to sit at the dinner table? I often find it a real challenge to get Noah,3 to actually sit and eat what’s on his plate. So, over the past couple of weeks I have experimented with a method of feeding I like to call “Buffet Style.”

Basically, I fill a couple of plates with food and let him help himself, rather than give him his dinner neatly arranged on his plate. For example, a bowl of pasta, veggies and a plate of omelette (pictured above) or cucumber, peas and tiny smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches (pictured below).

I’ve found that following this method he is more inclined to sit at the table and actually EAT more than he usually would. He loves the independence it gives him – he can pick to eat what he wants, not what I want him to eat.

Everyone’s happy – On the evenings I offer him his meal “Buffet Style” that are less arguments than normal and he’s happier with a fuller tummy! It’s a simple, easy way to get them to eat more – just offer more and let them help themselves!
