Dairy Free Chocolate Milkshake Recipe
Since I’ve been tracking my calories from the beginning of the year I’ve started to notice a pattern. Each meal containing dairy (and there’s a lot of them!) is followed by mild stomach cramping and a slight nauseous feeling. Nothing serious but enough for me to take notice.
I’ve consulted with my Doctor and have decided to try a month dairy free so I can give my body a dairy break before re-introducing it slowly to identify exactly which dairy foods cause me issues and in what volume. I suspect I will not need to be completely dairy free for life but my dairy levels will need to be monitored.
In the meantime, I see the next month as a wonderful opportunity to experiment with dairy free recipes. (And share the yummy results with you!)
This was the first of my experiments – a date sweetened chocolate milkshake. I played around with the water/coconut milk volume and found that just a small amount of coconut milk (in comparison with water) was just perfect. Not overpoweringly coconutty but smooth and creamy.
