3 Ingredient Chocolate Truffles Recipe

This 3 ingredient chocolate truffles recipe was inspired by the most incredible truffles I had ever tasted that I found while visiting Japan a few years ago. Instead of rolled truffles, they were presented and packaged in neat squares that are the perfect bite sized treat to slowly savour.

On coming home I researched what they were and how they were made and discovered that they are incredibly simple to re-create as they are formed of a decadent ganache mixture that’s set into a large square and then easily cut into small bite sized squares.

I’d originally planned to take them back home, but as you can see by the airline blanket beneath the box, they didn’t make it that far and we indulged in the rich chocolate treats during the journey.

The Simple Ingredients For The Easy Recipe

Here are the only 3 ingredients that you’ll need to create the perfect, indulgent chocolate ganache truffles:

Chocolate – ideally use good quality chocolate you can to create the best possible quality of truffles, whether that’s chocolate bars or chocolate chips.

If you’d like to make keto chocolate truffles then be sure to use as low carb and sugar chocolate as possible, such as 85% or higher, then you can just sweeten with stevia or your sweetener of choice to taste to be able to create the perfectly sweet truffles for you. 

Heavy Cream – to create the ganache and ultra creamy, mouthwatering truffles, heavy cream is heated up to help melt the chocolate.

You can actually swap for canned coconut milk if you’d prefer to create dairy free truffles, which I’ve done from time to time because I always have a can of coconut milk in the pantry but not always cream in the fridge!

Butter – for that extra little bit of indulgence and creaminess only a tablespoon of butter is needed in the simple recipe for the homemade truffles. 

Extra Ingredients – the above 3 ingredients creates the perfect homemade chocolate truffles, but you can feel free to add a little sugar or sweetener to sweeten or dust your truffles with a little cocoa powder for an even richer chocolate flavor. 

How to make dark chocolate ganache truffles

3 Ingredient Chocolate Truffles Recipe

  • 250g/8.8oz Chocolate
  • 3/4 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  1. Line a square dish, baking tin or airtight container with well greased baking parchment paper.
  2. Chop the chocolate and place it into a large bowl.
  3. Pour the cream into a small saucepan and add the butter.
  4. Place the saucepan on the stove top over medium to high heat.
  5. Melt the butter and bring the cream up to a simmer.
  6. As soon as the cream is simmering, remove from the heat.
  7. Pour the hot cream and melted butter over the bowl of chopped chocolate.
  8. Stir continuously until the chocolate mixture has completely melted, you could use a stick blender to quickly blend the ingredients together smoothly.
  9. Once the truffle mixture is smooth and glossy, pour it into the prepared square dish.
  10. Allow to cool to room temperature then place into the fridge to cool completely and harden.
  11. Remove the finished truffles from the fridge and cut into squares, store in the fridge and enjoy.
