5th Birthday Cupcakes

5th Birthday Cupcakes

Last week my oldest son celebrated his 5th Birthday. He’s been looking forward to his birthday for MONTHS (as most kids do), including his much anticipated Orange Birthday Cupcakes, and was incredibly excited when the day finally arrived.

His Birthday fell on a day when he goes to Kinder, so I made cupcakes for him to take to share with his friends.

I followed the Hot Milk Sponge Recipe I shared a little while back and instead of pouring the batter into a cake tin, I filled 24 mini cupcake liners instead (where to find mini cupcake liners) and placed them into a mini muffin tin to cook. (where to find a mini muffin tin)

To ice the cupcakes, I used organic icing sugar, organic unsalted butter, natural orange food coloring and natural orange sprinkles. Icing Cupcakes is most definitely not one of my strengths, I did the best I could and (thankfully) no one complained!

In the days following my son’s birthday I noticed that he seemed a little down. I think that with all the excitement and lead up to his birthday (and his orange birthday cupcakes he’d been asking for for weeks) he had a little anti-climactic experience. It only took a few days until he was back to his normal, happy self.

In other news –  Over the past week my blog was migrated over to a brand new home – there’s a new About and Recipe Index page. If you experience any issues at all with navigating my blog, please send me an email – yummyinspirations at gmail dot com – thank you!
