1. Get In The Right Head Space

You’ve heard about the awesome benefits dieters have enjoyed on the Keto Diet and you’re keen to get started? Excellent!

It’s important to be determined that this is something you want to commit to.

In the initial weeks you may suffer from what’s known as “Keto Flu” – where your body adjusts to the diet. You’ll need to be in the right head space to ride it out and keep going to achieve results.

Having a strong vision will help keep you in your head space. Write it down and display it somewhere you will easily see your vision over and over again, to help remind yourself of WHY you want to follow the Keto Diet. And stick to it.

2. Set Realistic Goals

Setting realistic weight loss goals, broken into tiny amounts along the way, is helpful for staying on track.

Be sure to take measurements too. Sometimes the scale can stall for a while and it’s reassuring to know that you’re losing centimetres/inches, even if the scale isn’t moving.

3. Know The Rules

The Ketogenic Diet is essentially low carb and high fat with approximately 70% Fat, 25% Protein and 5% Carbohydrates.

4. Work Out Your Personal Macros/Calories

To figure out your macro and calorie goals, enter your info onto the Keto Calculator. This will help provide you with an insight into how to create your own personal Keto Diet plan with the ideal macros and calories for you.

5. Research Ketogenic Diet Friendly Foods

Finding out what foods are Ketogenic Diet friendly will help you work out the meals you can enjoy.

Fats will be your friend! Enjoy moderate amounts of protein, with full fat. Include carbohydrates in sparing amounts – my go to low carb vegetables include spinach, avocado, mushrooms and asparagus.

6. Get Meal Inspiration

There’s so much inspiration out there to help show you how to start the Ketogenic Diet with AMAZING meals.

7. Clean Out Your Kitchen

Remove Non-Keto items or clear out a shelf in your pantry and fridge for Ketogenic Diet friendly foods to make it easy to construct meals.

8. Meal Plan

Keep it simple. Start with your favourite Keto friendly ingredients. Rinse and repeat!

9. Shop For The Ingredients

Fill your kitchen with Keto foods to make it easy for you to put together meals.

10. Preparation

Do all you can ahead of time to make it as easy as possible to stick to the Ketogenic Diet at every meal.
