Making low carb whipped cream from scratch is really easy. And, you can flavour it and adapt it to be as sweet as you like. 

 

I adore whipped cream regularly on my low carb days and it’s the perfect way to make a low carb sweet treat extra special. Or, just to enjoy with strawberries. (Or by the spoon full!)

You can make sugar free whipped cream by using a sweetener instead of regular sugar. Stevia is my sweetener of choice, but you can feel free to use whatever sweetener you usually enjoy as part of your low carb diet. 

Regarding the cream, you’ll want to use whatever cream you’re able to whisk into whipped cream. That may be called double, heavy or whipping cream, depending where you are in the world. 

I choose to add a half to a teaspoon of vanilla extract to my whipped cream to boost the sweet vanilla flavours. You could skip this step if you want or swap the vanilla for another flavour like chocolate, coffee, mint or caramel.

When whipping, be sure that your bowl and beaters are clean and completely dry so that the cream will whip properly.

To actually make the whipped cream, simply whisk the cream with an electric beater until just starting to thicken. Then, add the stevia and vanilla and whip until you have perfectly whipped cream. 

Once you’ve made your whipped cream, store it in a covered container in the fridge and use within a few days. I like to dollop mine on hot chocolate, berries or whatever low carb sweet treat I am recipe testing at the time.

  • 1 Cup Heavy/Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 to 1 Tablespoons Stevia
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract 
  1. Pour the cream into a clean, dry bowl. 
  2. Whisk with an electric beater until just starting to thicken.
  3. Add the stevia and vanilla. 
  4. Whisk until you have smooth, thickened whipped cream. 
  5. Enjoy straight away or store in a covered container in the fridge for a couple of days. 

I make this easy low carb whipped cream all year around – through Winter it’s perfect with warming hot chocolate and Summer just isn’t Summer without a bowl of strawberries and homemade whipped cream.
