Frozen Blueberry Jam Recipe – How to make easy homemade simple 3 ingredient jam with blueberries and chia seeds – a simple small batch without pectin – with the video tutorial.
Frozen Blueberry Jam Recipe
This frozen blueberry jam recipe has only 3 ingredients and is quick and easy to prepare.
You don’t need to fuss with pectin or canning in hot jars, simply heat the berries, add in chia seeds and sugar or natural sweeteners, then enjoy any time of year!
The homemade jam is delicious as a topping for your favorite recipes such as a decadent cheesecake, lemon blueberry bread, scones, mixed through yogurt, as a topping for my coconut milk panna cotta recipe or enjoyed in a sandwich with peanut butter or even cream cheese.
The Ingredients You’ll Need
Here are the 3 simple ingredients that you’ll need for the homemade blueberry jam recipe.
Blueberries – you can use frozen blueberries in homemade jam, as I’ve done in this recipe, or fresh blueberries if the ripe fruits are in season and easy to find at your local grocery stores.
A huge benefit of making freezer jam is that frozen fruit tends to be cheaper that fresh berries, so you can enjoy freshly made jars of blueberry jam all year around, not just during berry season.
There’s no need to thaw the berries, just pop them straight into a pot or saucepan and get cooking.
You can of course make the simple recipe with any berries you like, although you may need to use slightly less sweetness if making a sweeter berry jam like strawberry jam.
Sugar – you can use regular sugar, brown sugar, stevia, honey or maple syrup in the delicious blueberry jam.
You can use more or less sugar, the amount of sugar you use will depend on the sweetness of the jam you’re after as the perfect balance to the fruit mixture.
Chia Seeds – are used to help the jam set and thicken without the need for pectin of any kind, whether that’s a natural pectin such as lemon juice, lime juice, lemon zest or another kind of added pectin to achieve a gel consistency in a small batch of jam.
This easy jam recipe is completely foolproof and the simple process doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare.
You don’t even have to worry about the jam setting because the small amount of chia seeds that the recipe calls for will work to thicken the batch of homemade blueberry jam to the perfect texture, every time.
