Dark Chocolate Truffles Recipe

I like making my best dark chocolate truffles recipe in a square container then cutting into small pieces to enjoy. I find this to be an incredibly easy, fuss free method for making truffles.
If you’d prefer traditional, round truffles, then simply pour the truffle mixture into a small bowl, when cool place in the fridge to thicken then roll into 1-inch balls, with the help of a small cookie scoop or a melon baller.
The 3 Ingredients
Here are the 3 basic ingredients that you’ll need for the simple recipe:
Dark Chocolate – you can use any dark chocolate you like, either chop high quality chocolate bars or use chocolate chips for quick melting.
Cream – you can use heavy cream, double cream or heavy whipping cream in the recipe. You can also swap the cream for coconut milk if you’d like.
Mascarpone Cheese – to achieve a luxuriously creamy texture, mascarpone is mixed through the ganache mixture.
You can feel free to add in extra ingredients to the easy chocolate truffles recipe to suit your own tastes. Here are some ideas for you:
Chocolate – if you’d prefer not to make dark chocolate truffles, you can swap the chocolate for milk chocolate, white chocolate or really any chocolate you feel like.
Sweetness – I find the homemade truffles recipe to be sweet enough, but you can feel free to mix through a few tablespoons of sugar, stevia, maple syrup or your sweetness of choice.
Flavor – you can flavor the dark chocolate ganache with your choice from a pinch of salt, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, mint extract or orange zest or a few spoons of peanut butter for chocolate peanut butter truffles.
Topping – you can add a topping or coating to the truffles, choose from unsweetened cocoa powder, chocolate sprinkles, ground nuts, shredded coconut or even crushed candy canes for a fun festive treat.
