Greek Yogurt Chocolate Pudding Recipe – how to make an easy and healthy high protein no bake dessert mousse with Greek Yoghurt – with the full video tutorial.
Greek Yogurt Chocolate Pudding
This Greek yogurt chocolate pudding is a healthy treat that has a luxuriously creamy texture and will satisfy your chocolate cravings.
I decided to come up with the healthy dessert due to the rapidly rising costs of some of my weekly staples. In this instance, a creamy salted caramel yogurt which has risen in price from €2 to a whopping €2.95. It’s something I used buy once a week as a treat that I just can’t justify spending the extra 95 cents a week on.
So, when I bought a massive 1kg tub of Greek yogurt for just €1.29 because my usual 500g tub has been out of stock, I decided to experiment with the extra yogurt to make a sweet treat to replace my old favorite caramel yogurt treat.
And the result is this dreamy, creamy chocolate yogurt pudding that is a huge hit with the whole family and ends up costing a fraction of the price of my old treat. (Here are more Greek yogurt dessert recipes.)
How To Make The Chocolate Yogurt Pudding
To make the dessert is wonderfully simple, you don’t even need a hand mixer, stand mixer or electric mixer for the recipe.
All you do is mix the dry ingredients of cocoa powder, sugar, cornflour and salt together, then whisk in the milk and pop it onto the stove top to heat and thicken. You’ll see that very quickly, before your eyes the pudding turns from a milky mixture into a gloriously thick and creamy one.
Then, it’s just a matter of whisking in the vanilla and yogurt until you have a smooth and creamy pudding, and the hardest part of being patient for the pudding to cool and then thicken further in the fridge before getting to indulge in the chocolate decadence.
You can enjoy the treat in place of a traditional chocolate mousse for a special occasion, such as Valentine’s Day, or simply as an easy, budget friendly homemade delicious dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Simple Ingredients For The Easy Recipe
Here are the ingredients that you’ll need to make the simple recipe:
Cocoa Powder – use unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder in the recipe. You can also add in chocolate chips or melted chocolate for added, indulgent chocolate flavor.
Sugar – include regular sugar, honey, maple syrup, stevia or your sweetener of choice in the dessert. We enjoy dark chocolate treats so only include 1/4 of a cup, if you’d like a sweeter treat then include 1/3 of a cup or more.
Cornflour – you can use cornflour or cornstarch, depending on what it’s called where you live, to make the perfect, thick pudding.
Salt and Vanilla Extract – is included to enhance the flavor of the pudding. You could also flavor your dessert with a half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of instant espresso powder, orange zest or lemon zest.
Milk – include whole milk, almond milk, oat milk or your milk of choice that you usually include in your diet.
Creamy Greek Yogurt – you can really use any yogurt you like in the recipe, with the tang of the yoghurt providing the perfect balance to the richness of the other ingredients in the recipe.
Choose from plain Greek yogurt as I’ve used or you can use vanilla yogurt, natural yogurt, plain yogurt or even a chocolate flavored yogurt for even more chocolate flavor in the pudding.
You can top your pudding with whipped cream, chopped chocolate, chocolate shavings or fresh fruit such as sliced strawberries or raspberries.
