These keto ground beef recipes are all quick and easy to prepare and the whole family will enjoy the hearty comfort food meals at the dinner table.
Packs of ground beef are easy and cheap to come by and there are just so many ways to use the versatile ingredient to create a complete meal including comfort foods like burgers and cheesy keto casseroles.
Lazy Keto Meals With Ground Beef
Here are all of our favorite keto ground beef recipes that each make a great way to make the most of low carb ingredients, including plenty of fresh vegetables, in a quick meal for your weeknight dinner.
Some are old familiar recipes and some may even quickly become new favorites to add to your weekly meal plan.
1. 3 Ingredient Spaghetti Bolognese
This easy low-carb version of spaghetti bolognese has just 3 ingredients, is quick to prepare and the best part is that the entire family will enjoy the brilliant comfort food meal. (And, here are more easy keto comfort food recipes for you, too.)
The three ingredient, basic recipe for the delicious meal includes only –
Beef Mince – I tend to use the highest fat ground beef mince I can find at the grocery store. You could mix it up and use any mince you’d like as part of your keto lifestyle.
Low Carb Pasta Sauce – find the lowest carb pasta sauce you can, one without added sugar or hidden carbs. The sauce brings plenty of flavor without the need for additional ingredients, especially when making low carb recipes. You can of course add in any other seasoning you like such as Italian seasoning, garlic powder or oregano, to taste.
Cabbage – is my keto friendly pasta alternative of choice, simply slice the cabbage into spaghetti sized pieces.
You can go beyond the three ingredients if you want to and include as many of the following low carb diet friendly foods in your dish as you’d like:
- Onion
- Garlic
- Mushrooms
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Bell Peppers
- Grated cheese
- Parmesan Cheese
So, to make the recipe, you’ll need:
- 1lb/500g Beef Mince
- 1 Jar of Low Carb Pasta Sauce
- 1/4 to 1/2 Cabbage
Start by melting coconut oil, olive oil or butter in a frying pan. When hot, add the beef mince and cook until browned. You can also add salt, pepper or any other seasoning you like, to taste.
Then, pour over the jar of pasta sauce and bring the meaty sauce up to a simmer.
While the meat is cooking, slice the cabbage into noodles and add to the meaty sauce.
Cook until the cabbage noodles have softened and the sauce has reduced to your liking. You may need to add more water if it all needs further cooking.
Serve as is or you can top your spaghetti bolognese with grated cheese or parmesan for easy low carb dinners.
2. Egg Roll In A Bowl
Egg roll in a bowl is a super flavorful keto diet friendly meal that’s quick and easy to throw together, while being naturally low in grams of carbs.
To make the healthy dinner of easy beef egg roll that has a ton of flavor, start by browning the ground beef mince, garlic, salt and pepper in sesame oil in a large frying pan.
Once browned, add in cabbage that’s been chopped to small pieces, along with tamari or soy sauce. Cook until the keto egg roll dish has reduced down, then serve the easy dinner recipe, topped with green onions if you like.
The great recipe is also the perfect dish to meal prep ahead of time and then quickly reheat for dinner or take as leftovers for a packed work lunch.
3. Bunless Burgers
Ground beef mince can be used in some of the cheapest keto meals, including a bunless burger that is easy to make and full of flavor.
Simply combine beef mince together with your burger seasoning of choice, mine are salt and ground coriander.
Then, cook the burgers in plenty of coconut oil or olive oil until browned on both sides and cooked through.
Instead of carby buns, use lettuce leaves as a bun and then enjoy with your burger fillings and favorite toppings of choice. Mine are simply sour cream and cheddar cheese. You might like to add in keto friendly tomato sauce, mustard or pickles to your loaded burger bowls.
4. Keto One Pan Ground Beef Moussaka
I found this easy recipe on the BBC Good Food website and adapted it to easily be low carb friendly.
Simply brown the beef mince and then add the chopped eggplant/aubergine to brown too. You could add in mushrooms, bell peppers or your vegetables of choice.
Once the beef and eggplant has browned, add the chopped tomatoes. Toss to combine and simmer until the sauce has reduced and all is softened and cooked through. Finally, top with crumbled feta and enjoy.
5. Zucchini Boats
This easy low carb recipe is the perfect meal when you have an abundance of zucchinis in your fridge and is always a hit with the whole family.
- 3 Zucchini
- Coconut Oil, for frying
- 250g/9 Ounces Beef Mince
- Handful of Oregano Leaves
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Onion, peeled and finely diced
- 2-3 Garlic Cloves, peeled and finely diced
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Red Pepper
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Tomatoes (I used mini roma tomatoes)
- 2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and get out a baking dish.
- Cut the zucchini in half lengthways, remove the pulp with a teaspoon and reserve a half a cup.
- Heat a little coconut oil in a large frying pan/skillet.
- When hot add the beef mince and sprinkle over the oregano and salt.
- Once the meat has browned add the onion, garlic, red pepper, tomatoes and reserved zucchini pulp.
- Stir to combine. After a few minutes add the tomato paste.
- Cook, stirring from time to time, until the vegetables have softened a little and the liquid has reduced significantly.
- Once the beef sauce has cooked, remove from the heat onto a plate or bowl.
- Fill the prepared zucchini with the meat sauce.
- Place into the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until cooked through.
6. Ground Beef Stroganoff
This recipe makes an easy way to enjoy the flavors of a traditional beef stroganoff but with ketogenic diet friendly ingredients.
Enjoy the keto beef stroganoff as is by the bowlful or over a bed of cauliflower rice or mash for a simple meal with minimal prep.
- 1/2 to 1 Onion, peeled and sliced
- 2-3 Garlic Cloves, peeled and chopped
- 500g/1.1lbs Ground Beef
- 250g/0.5lb Fresh Mushrooms, chopped
- 1/2 Cup Almond Milk
- 100g/3.5 ounces Cream Cheese
- Melt coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil or butter in a frying pan or large skillet over medium heat.
- When hot, add the onion and garlic.
- Once the onion and garlic start softening, add the ground beef into the hot skillet.
- Toss the ground beef so that it browns all over.
- Once the pieces of beef have browned, add in the mushrooms.
- Cook until the mushrooms have reduced and the meat is completely cooked through.
- Pour over the milk and add the cream cheese.
- Stir to mix the cream cheese into the cooked beef stroganoff and cook until bubbling and you have a creamy, thick sauce.
- Move the low-carb beef stroganoff to bowls, enjoy as is or with cauliflower rice, cauliflower mash or low-carb noodles for a speedy low carb dinner, storing any cooled leftover beef in an airtight container and enjoying within a couple of days.
7. Lazy Keto Ground Beef Casserole Recipe
This easy keto cheeseburger casserole recipe has simple ingredients, and is the perfect low-carb diet meal that’s low in net carbs.
When browning the meat for the delicious casserole, you can add in any chopped vegetables you like including chopped green beans, mushrooms, bell pepper, broccoli or cauliflower.
- 1/2 Onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 2-3 Garlic Cloves, peeled and finely chopped
- 500g/1.1lbs Ground Beef Mince
- Salt & Black Pepper, to taste
- 1/4 Cup Cream Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Cup Grated Cheese
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and grease an oven proof baking casserole dish.
- Heat coconut oil or butter in a frying pan and, when hot, cook the onion, garlic, ground beef and seasoning until browned and cooked through.
- Mix through the cream cheese, cream, sour cream and half of the grated cheese.
- Move to the prepared baking dish and top with the rest of the grated cheese.
- Place into the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden on top and cooked through. Serve immediately and enjoy.
