I’ve been lucky enough to call Ireland home for the past 5 years, and have enjoyed sweet treats out and about as well as attempted to make some at home myself for special occasions over the years.

You may be wanting to buy or make a traditional dessert to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or simply discover a new favorite dessert to enjoy with a cup of tea.

Traditional Irish Desserts – Apple Pie

A classic dessert that you’ll find in almost every pub, cafe and restaurant in the country is one version or another of Apple Pie, Traditional Irish apple cake or Apple Crumble, usually served with an indulgent swirl of fresh cream or vanilla ice cream.

Each chef will have their own unique interpretation or special family recipe that you may be lucky enough to try.

In Dublin Murphys Ice Cream, Teddy’s and Three Twenty are popular choices, and Scup have a few outposts around the country as well as supplying to popular cafes and restaurants.

I enjoyed the above pictured Bailey’s Cheesecake at a pub in County Wexford and it made a creamy, dreamy end to a cozy pub lunch.
