7 Easy Low Carb Breakfast Recipes
Here is the week of quick and simple keto-approved breakfasts for you. Scroll down for a video where you can watch all of the recipes being prepared, step by step.
1. Crispy Cheese Fried Eggs
To make crispy cheese fried eggs, you simply crack a couple of eggs into a frying pan which is hot and has heaps of melted butter in it.
As soon as you’ve cracked the eggs, sprinkle over a generous couple of handfuls (or more) of grated cheese.
Then, you watch and wait as the eggs cook and the cheese becomes crispy. And, you have the most AMAZING crispy edged, cheesy eggs.
You can serve this cheesy breakfast on it’s own, or with a side of raw or briefly sauteed spinach, which I find helps to balance the richness of the breakfast. (And starts your day with a healthy portion of greens, too!)
2. Keto Breakfast Fry Up
You can include a whole host of low carb ingredients in your Keto Breakfast Fry Up. Here’s what’s in mine:
- Sausages (find the lowest carb sausages you can)
- Avocado
- Sour Cream
- Fried Eggs
- Grated Cheese
Here are more ideas for ketogenic approved foods that you could include in your hearty breakfast fry up:
- Sauteed Mushrooms, Onion, Garlic, Zucchini, Spinach or Tomatoes
- Bacon
- Smoked salmon
- Ham
- Leftover roast beef/chicken
3. Chia Pudding
When you’re thinking easy keto breakfast ideas and you don’t feel like eggs, then you can’t go past a convenient chia pudding.
Mix together the following:
- Berries – strawberries, blueberries or raspberries
- Low Carb Yoghurt
- Cream
- Chia Seeds
Regarding quantities, it really depends on whether you’re counting your macros and the flavour you’re after with your chia pudding.
I tend to add 2 teaspoons of chia seeds and a small handful of berries and then cream/yoghurt until it’s the consistency I’m after.
Place all of the ingredients into a bowl, mix and enjoy. You can also prepare the chia pudding in advance the night before and have a thick pudding waiting for you to grab and go in the morning.
4. Crispy Radish Breakfast
Did you know that when you fry (or roast) radishes, they taste almost like tiny little crispy potatoes? I know, it blew my mind too! Wait until you try them and see for yourself.
Heat butter or coconut oil in a frying pan and, when hot, add chopped radishes, I like to add in chopped garlic too.
Cook until crispy, adding more butter or coconut oil, if needed. Then, remove from the frying pan, add more butter or coconut oil and fry eggs until done to your liking. Serve and enjoy you keto-approved breakfast hash.
5. Protein Shake
Some mornings there’s just no time to make any sort of breakfast. That’s when a low carb protein shake comes in handy for a grab and go keto diet breakfast.
Find the lowest carb protein powder you can (like this one) and then mix it up according to directions.
To bring the fat content up, add a couple of healthy tablespoons of cream. I usually add whatever cream I have in the fridge at the time. (I always have cream in the fridge, usually a selection too!)
Then, give it all a good shake and you have breakfast to enjoy while you’re on the go.
6. Keto Asparagus Breakfast
When asparagus is in season you can enjoy the bounty for breakfast. Simply chop off the woody stems and then fry in heaps of butter or olive oil until cooked to your liking.
Then, fry a couple of eggs and serve with feta and/or sour cream to bring all the flavors together in one hearty plate full.
7. Cheesy Cauliflower Breakfast Bowl
If you’re after a warm breakfast without eggs, then fry up your veggie of choice with heaps of cream and cheese.
In this instance I cooked up cauliflower in butter until golden and then added in pouring cream, sour cream and grated cheese and cooked until I had a pan full of gooey, cheesy goodness.
