7 Keto Family Meals

What do you do when you are on the Keto Diet or you want to start the Keto Diet but you have a whole family to feed? How do you not make 4 separate meals, but instead, one meal that the whole family can enjoy together?

I’ve been on and off Keto over the past 18 months, along with my Husband. Our two kids have not been on Keto, but they have enjoyed plenty of Keto Family Meals.

Some meals, there’s just no way around it. You will have to make something separate for the kids. (Of course this depends on their tastes and ages.) In this post though, I’m going to show you how to make meals for the whole family and give you plenty of ideas and links to recipes too.

Here’s the video where I talk you through my strategy for sharing Keto Family Meals together. Hit play below or click here to watch on YouTube.

1. Best Ever Chicken Bake

Best-Ever-Chicken-Bake-Recipe

This recipe was created during my first Keto stint and has since become my kids all time favourite meal. They adore it and ask for it regularly. I’ll make cauliflower mash to go as a side, sometimes my kids will have mash, sometimes I may treat them and open a bag of crisps/chips for them to have on the side.

We all have a side of other vegetables too – usually a handful of spinach and sliced cucumber. This is an example of an easy Keto Family Meal that no adaptation is needed to be enjoyed. Hit play below to watch how to prepare this easy keto family meal.

2. Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese

Or spag bol as we like to call it! I cook mine very simply with a bottle of the lowest carb pasta sauce I can find. The boys enjoy theirs with spaghetti and my Husband and I will either have zucchini noodles or sometimes even just loaded with grated cheese.

It’s an old favourite that is easily adapted. Plus, you can easily hide a host of vegetables in the meat sauce – I’ve grated broccoli, mushrooms and other vegetables into the meaty sauce without the veggies being detected, even by my picky eaters!

3. Burger or Sausages

Sausage Dinner

Another weekly favourite and easily enjoyed by the whole family. Kids have buns and Hubby and I have ours without. You can enjoy a burger in a lettuce bun or on a plate with heaps of sides such as avocado, sour cream, cheese or whatever else you’d usually enjoy in a burger or with a sausage.

Just a side note: be sure to find the lowest carb sausages and burgers as they can often be loaded with sugars, carbs and other fillers.

4. Roast

A roast chicken or lamb is another one our favourite keto family meals. You can roast as usual, with potatoes, carrots or your kids other favourite sides and then also add Keto friendly vegetables like cauliflower and radishes to enjoy the meal together as a family.

5. Corned Beef Silverside

Corned Beef Silverside is an excellent meal to prepare if you’re after leftovers for days! The meat is delicious when enjoyed with cabbage cooked in the corned beef brine. (Read how here!) For the kids, they enjoy the meat with veggies and sometimes in a sandwich.

6. Pizza

What kid doesn’t love pizza? There are so many Keto friendly pizza variations. Our favourite is using massive mushrooms as a base and then loading on our toppings of choice. (Get the recipe here!)

If your kids aren’t fans of “pretend pizza”, then you can still have pizza night, make theirs a carby pizzas and then you could enjoy a Keto version.

I do like to get my kids to at least try a little bit of what we are having, and maybe with a few trys they will get used to it and then want our mushroom version instead of a traditional pizza. (Yes, I know pigs could also fly!)

7. Parmesan Chicken Nuggets

Parmesan-Chicken-Nuggets

Chicken nuggets are always a hit and these are loved by the whole family. You can crumb nuggets in parmesan, as suggested in the recipe, or use almond flour, coconut flour or some Keto followers have even used crumbed pork rinds to much success.

It’s just another meal which you can Ketofy that the kids will love and you can Keep Calm and Keto On!
