Tuna And Avocado Salad Recipe – How to make the best easy and creamy healthy low carb and keto tuna salad for a budget friendly lunch. With the video tutorial.
Tuna And Avocado Salad Recipe
This tuna and avocado salad is oh so easy to put together and makes a tasty, quick lunch. (Or dinner!)
Lately I’ve been lucky in finding cheap, perfectly ripe and fresh avocados so I’ve been enjoying them in plenty of tuna salads.
The great recipe also happens to be low carb and keto diet approved, making it a great way to stay on plan and enjoy as the perfect lunch with so much flavor.
Tuna Salad Ingredients
This particular combination is my usual go to for lunch. I haven’t specified quantities because it depends on how big a salad you want to make and your own perfect salad ratio of tuna to avocado and sour cream.
Spinach – start with a bed of greens, I usually opt for spinach. You could swap the spinach for lettuce, such as romaine lettuce, and make lettuce wraps instead.
Tuna – top the spinach with a small tin of tuna.
Avocado – slice avocado and place a layer on top of the tuna.
Goats Cheese – dot with goats cheese or feta. (Or you can leave it out, I just enjoy the contrasting flavors and textures.)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil – drizzle over olive oil for flavor and added healthy fats.
Salt – add a few shakes of salt, and black pepper too if you like.
Sour Cream – and finally, swirl over sour cream to give the salad an extra creamy texture. You could of course swap the creamy base for mayo or Greek yogurt if you’d like to also create a creamy avocado tuna salad.
You can make the salad and enjoy straight away or prep in a meal prep airtight container (like one from this set), pop on the lid and then take lunch to go.
More Ingredient Ideas
You can follow the easy recipe for the healthy avocado tuna salad or adapt it to include your choice of simple ingredients that you can find from the grocery store.
Choose from chopped colorful veggies such as red onion, cherry tomatoes or bell pepper, a squeeze or two of lemon juice or lime juice, lime or lemon zest, chopped hard-boiled eggs, olives such as Kalamata olives, fresh cilantro or stir mustard such as Dijon mustard through the dressing.
