Low Carb Fried Chicken Recipe – How to make the best crispy, crunchy KFC Style Keto Fried Chicken with the video. Quick & Easy Ketogenic Diet Dinner Ideas.
Low Carb Fried Chicken
This low carb fried chicken is crispy, crunchy, so easy to make and the whole family will enjoy this keto friendly version of one of the all time favorite foods.
It tastes like carby regular fried chicken, but the best part is that you’ll be pleased to discover that the carbs are negligible, without sacrificing the flavor.
How To Make KFC Style Keto Fried Chicken
Start by marinading the chicken pieces in a mix of egg and sour cream. Both work to tenderize and develop flavor in the chicken.
I used chicken breast in this instance and chopped it into strips. You could swap the breasts for any piece of chicken you like that you can find at the grocery store, including chicken drumsticks, thighs or even wings.
You can marinade for a few hours or overnight to cook the next day for the best way to achieve a deeper flavor.
Then, make up your crumb mixture by mixing together equal parts parmesan cheese and almond flour, together with your herbs and spices of choice.
You could swap some of the crumb for other low carb alternative options such as ground pork rinds and a little coconut flour for a pork rind mixture in your crispy crust.
Mine are simply salt, oregano and paprika, but you could also add in your own choices from black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, ginger, celery salt, thyme, cayenne pepper or mustard powder.
Dip the marinated chicken into the crumb mixture and then heat oil in a frying pan. Once the frying pan is (very) hot, add the chicken into the frying pan and cook until golden on both sides.
I like to serve the juicy chicken with a simple keto diet friendly side of spinach or other greens, to balance the delicious richness of the crispy chicken.
