Low Carb Tuna Salad Recipe – The Best Quick and Easy Keto Diet Friendly Lunch Ideas – Low Carb Lunch Bowl with avocado.
Low Carb Tuna Salad
Tuna Salad is my go to lunch most days. I make a variation of this salad, depending on the ingredients I have to hand.
You can prepare the salad in a bowl, as I have done, or pop all of the simple ingredients into an airtight container as a great option to grab and go a lunch that’s low in net carbs.
Here’s how to put together this low carb avocado tuna salad:
Greens
Start with a bed of greens – spinach, kale, lettuce or your greens of choice. Wash well and place in the bottom of you bowl or plate.
Vegetables
Next, add vegetables your vegetables of choice. I went with chopped ripe avocado in this instance, but you could also add cucumber, tomato, red onion, green onions, a lettuce wrap, fresh parsley or another low carb vegetable.
Sauce
I go for half sour cream and half creamy mayo in salad recipes. So. a tablespoon or so of each, to get the best of all the flavors and nutrients from both.
You could go for all mayo or all sour cream if you prefer. You could also feel free to swap one of the ingredients in the creamy tuna salad to a keto friendly yogurt like Greek Yogurt without added sugar instead.
Tuna
The star of the best tuna salad – a tin of tuna fish. I personally prefer canned tuna in spring water, so I can add my own flavors and oils/fats when preparing. Also, I try and find tune that is pole and line caught for sustainability reasons.
Flavors
Finish off your salad with salt, black pepper or your seasoning of choice and maybe even a drizzling of olive oil or avocado oil for a great way to enjoy extra healthy fats when following a keto lifestyle.
You can also flavor your quick meal with lemon zest, a splash of lemon juice or lime juice, dijon mustard, fresh dill, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper or even a sprinkling of cheddar cheese.
