Simple Keto Meals
When it comes to preparing meals that are low carb and keto diet friendly, my philosophy is to keep things as easy as possible. The fewer steps, ingredients and time involved to meal prep – the better.
So, in this post you’ll find simple keto meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks, to make it easy as possible to enjoy delicious Keto meals with as little effort as possible, while helping you on your weight loss journey.
Simple Keto Breakfast Ideas
Breakfast usually includes at least one vegetable and then I tend to have eggs in some description, more often than not. (But I have shared egg free breakfast ideas for when you want an egg break!)
It really doesn’t have to be complicated – simply vegetables and eggs, done to your liking.
I choose from having my eggs fried, scrambled, poached or in an omelette. (Like this 3 cheese omelette or keto pizza omelette.)
Then, for the vegetables, I see what’s in the fridge and then fry a portion in heaps of butter, coconut oil or olive oil.
Here are some ideas for vegetables that are low in net carbs to include in your simple keto breakfast:
- Mushrooms
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower including cauliflower rice
- Spinach
- Green beans
- Asparagus
- Brussels sprouts
- Bell Pepper or Red Pepper
- Radishes
Simple Keto Lunch Ideas
As with breakfast, lunch doesn’t need to be complicated – stick to a few basics and then mix and match to suit what you have available and your tastes in your keto lunch recipes. (Here are 10 low carb lunch recipes.)
That’s usually a chicken salad, egg salad or other low carb high-fat salad for me. I start with a bed of fresh veggies such as lettuce or spinach and then top with tuna or leftover roast or rotisserie chicken or lamb and then some healthy fats with avocado, sour cream and/or mayo. If I’m wanting a vegetarian lunch then I may have feta or another cheese instead. (Or make my easy recipe for Keto Broccoli Salad.)
A warming option for lunch is a bowl of keto soup. I’ll often make a big batch of one of my go to easy low carb recipes for soup and then enjoy by the bowl full for a speedy, hearty and warming meal. (Here are 10 keto-friendly recipes for soup.) You can mix through some butter, heavy cream or coconut milk to elevate the healthy fat content.
Simple Keto Snack Ideas
I tend to alternate between strawberries and cream and hot chocolate for my keto snacks of the day. You could also enjoy any of the following simple snacks:
- Nuts
- Cheese
- Meat Sticks
- Celery filled with cream cheese or peanut butter
- Berries
Simple Keto Dinner Ideas
I tend to rotate between a handful of quick keto meals for an easy dinner on busy weeknights, usually one from these 7 easy keto dinner recipes I shared recently. Lately I’ve been buying a bulk pack of ground beef mince and then enjoying it over two nights in easy meals.
The first night I’ll have bolognaise, but cooking it in a saucepan with a low carb pasta or marinara sauce and then topping it with heaps of grated cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese in a bowl.
On the other night, for the low carb dinner I’ll form the other half of the beef mince into burgers and have the cooked burgers in a lettuce cup instead of a bun and then include some of my go to burger toppings like cheese, an egg and mayo.
