Easy Low Carb Meals – Keto Diet Day Of Eating With Only 10 Ingredients – I challenged myself to cook a whole day of easy Ketogenic Diet meals with only 10 ingredients.

Easy Low Carb Meals 

Keto really doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to eat every single possible keto permitted food over the course of 24 hours. 

In this blog post I’m going to show you how easy it is to enjoy a whole day of easy low carb meals with only 10 ingredients. That’s not 10 ingredients per meal – that’s 10 ingredients for the entire day. 

10 Keto Diet Friendly Ingredients

Top 10 Keto Ingredients to eat in a day

To start with, here is the list of 10 ingredients I mixed and matched through the day: 

  1. Eggs – a low carb staple that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways
  2. Zucchini – a healthy green vegetables that’s low in carbs
  3. Sour Cream or Creme Fraiche – I’ve been reintroducing dairy after a bit of a dairy break so I’ve just been enjoying Organic Creme Fraiche for now but you could definately enjoy sour cream instead. 
  4. Tuna – virtually no carbs and high in protein, tuna makes an excellent meal or snack. 
  5. Spinach – one of the lowest carb vegetables is great in salads or sauteed with meals. 
  6. Avocado – like is just better with avocados! A low carb, high fat ingredient that brings life to meals. 
  7. Lamb Chops – they are on special at ALDI here in Ireland at the moment, so I included them in my day. You could swap in steak or any other meaty meal for dinner. 
  8. Mushrooms – another one of my go to keto vegetables that I could easily enjoy every meal of every day! 
  9. Butter or Coconut Oil – for frying and adding healthy fats to meals. 
  10. Salt – the only seasoning I included in my list of 10 – feel free to add in pepper and any other seasoning or herb you like. 

You can of course add whatever ingredients to your shopping list that you like. I just wanted to keep it simple and show you how easy keto can be. 

Low Carb Breakfast

I started the day with a meat free breakfast. Chop the zucchini and then fry in plenty of coconut oil and salt until golden. 

Then, the eggs were simply fried in more coconut oil until perfectly done. I put my plate together with the zucchini, fried eggs and a couple of tablespoons of sour cream. 

Breakfast Macros – 240 Calories, 20.5g Fat, 7.5g net carbs, 12.2g protein 

Keto Friendly Lunch Idea

For lunch I went for a simple tuna salad. Start with a base of plenty of spinach leaves. Then, add a small tin of tuna, chopped avocado and a couple of tablespoons of sour cream. 

You can keep all the elements separate by taking a tin of tuna, an avocado, spinach and sour cream to work and then easily construct it all fresh for lunch. 

I have a set of glass storage containers that I like using for lunch. I was initially weary of using glass but it makes for easier clean up and the food just tastes better from a glass container than from plastic. (These are the containers I use.)

Lunch Macros – 531 Calories, 44.7g Fat, 6.8 Net Carbs, 20.5g Protein 

Low Carb Dinner Meal

For dinner I went for a meaty meal by frying up mushrooms, lamb chops and spinach. Another meal that’s simple to put together yet full of flavour. 

Lamb chops have been on sale lately at ALDI, so I’d suggest frying up whatever meat is budget friendly where you are. (Here’s my Keto ALDI Shopping List for more budget friendly inspiration.) 

Dinner Macros – 785 Calories, 66.3g Fat, 5.6 Net Carbs, 41g Protein 

What About Snacks? 

I haven’t included snacks in my 10 ingredients because I’ve personally been trying not to snack as much lately and rather have more substantial meals. 

When I do snack, these are my simple go to keto snack ideas: 

  • Chopped cucumber, celery or peppers
  • Handful of nuts
  • Hot chocolate (here’s my easy recipe
  • Handful of berries 
  • Berries and whipped cream
  • Plain natural yoghurt with berries and chia seeds 
  • Chocolate chia pudding (here’s the recipe)

So, as you can see, 10 ingredients can easily be enjoyed in a day of easy low carb meals.

You’ll note that the macros for the day are on the lower side, that’s to leave you room for snacks and to add any other vegetables or foods at meals. 

Full Day Macros – 1556 Calories, 131.5g Fat, 19.9 Net Carb, 73.7g Protein
