High Protein Breakfast Foods
These high protein breakfast foods can be mixed and matched to create all kinds of nourishing dishes to enjoy for your most important meal of the day.
You may be wanting to include more high-protein breakfast foods in your morning meal to simply start your day with plenty of protein to ensure that you intake adequate protein through the day, or you may be wanting to add extra protein to help you achieve your own personal weight loss goal.
Either way – you’re sure to find plenty of inspiration for quick and easy high protein meals in this list.
Protein-Packed Eggs
A great way to enjoy a breakfast that’s naturally high in grams of protein is to have eggs – any way you’d like. You may want make hard-boiled eggs over the weekend to enjoy as a grab and go option through the week.
Or, make a breakfast fry up like the above pictured green shakshuka, scrambled eggs or an omelette that’s loaded with other high protein ingredients to enjoy for your morning meal.
Cheese
I usually enjoy cheese in some form for breakfast, whether that’s Halloumi cheese or feta cheese served with a breakfast fry up, grated cheddar cheese in an omelette or simply adding a dollop of cream cheese or ricotta cheese to an omelette or scrambled eggs batter for the added protein and healthy fats.
High Protein Breakfast Foods – Nuts and Seeds
There are plenty of ways to create a protein-packed meal that’s loaded with all kinds of nutritious nuts and seeds.
Top smoothie bowls with nuts and seeds, enjoy a handful with your meal, make the decadent chocolate granola that I shared the other week, make almond flour waffles or pancakes, a chia pudding with 2 ingredients or simply swirl peanut butter over the top or on the side of your breakfast.
These are some of my favorite nut and seed options that I always keep to hand to be able to easily incorporate into high-protein meals:
- Peanut Butter
- Almond Milk
- Almond Flour
- Almond Butter
- Cashew Nuts
- Almonds
- Macadamia Nuts
- Chia Seeds
- Hemp Seeds
- Sunflower Seeds
- Pumpkin Seeds
Sausages
A sausage or two is a great way to add a significant amount of protein to your breakfast while satisfying your taste buds. Choose from a turkey sausage, chicken sausage, beef sausage or pork sausage.
You can make a whole high protein content fry up with eggs, vegetables, cheese and other high-protein ingredients or simply enjoy sausages, fried with some red onion and served with a couple of dollops of sour cream.
Bacon
Other options for high protein meat products that makes an easy breakfast is bacon. Choose from traditional bacon, turkey bacon or another bacon alternative that makes an easy way to elevate your protein intake for the day.
Mince
I adore making breakfast burgers as a special treat sometimes over the weekend. Simply shape beef mince into burger patties. You can add in salt, pepper or your seasoning of choice, mine is usually ground coriander/cilantro.
Fry up the homemade burgers until they are done to your liking, and then you can also fry up an egg to enjoy on top of your breakfast burger.
Assemble the burger within a couple of lettuce leaves as buns, or of course you can use any burger buns you usually include in your diet. I like to include a slice of cheese too, but you could add your burger toppings of choice.
Fish and Seafood
Adding tuna, smoked salmon or any other fish or seafood you like to your breakfast is a wonderfully healthy way to enjoy extra protein in your diet.
Choose from a protein-packed breakfast of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or make a hearty tuna breakfast scramble.
Burritos With High Protein Breakfast Foods
Meal prep easy breakfast burritos by scrambling up a couple of eggs per person to fill your tortilla with.
I like also adding in plenty of grated cheese to make a cheesy breakfast dish, but you could also add in any chopped raw or cooked vegetables you like, or even black beans to your breakfast burritos.
Greek Yogurt
Simply enjoy a bowl of Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and maybe a drizzle of maple syrup for sweetness, or create a healthy breakfast smoothie or parfait.
Oats
Oats are surprisingly high in protein and make a brilliant egg free breakfast option that’s full of nutritious ingredients that will keep you full. Enjoy wholesome oats as overnight oats, chocolate oatmeal, kiwi banana smoothie or granola bars.
Protein Powder
Of course the simplest option is to add a scoop of protein powder to your morning meal either in a smoothie, yogurt bowl or just as a protein shake to give you a super quick and easy protein boost. (Shop protein powder on Amazon.)
