These AIP Diet Recipes will give you a taste of the best the autoimmune protocol and paleo diet has to offer.
You may be wanting to follow the elimination diet to address an autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, hashimoto’s thyroiditis, chronic inflammation, celiac disease or simply for the health benefits that moving through the AIP Diet Plan and enjoying nutrient-dense foods offers.
The AIP Diet involves excluding food irritants from your diet for a period of time and then re-introducing them one at a time to allow for healing and for you to assess whether a certain food group is causing you issues. (At this point I should point out that the diet is best followed under medical supervision, so be sure to visit your chosen health professional to ensure that you stay in best health while following the restrictive diet.)
In brief, The AIP Diet excludes grains, gluten, sugar, eggs, nuts, dairy, nightshade vegetables and other potential food irritants and includes most fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, chicken fish and a few select condiments. (Here’s the full food list on the Paleo Mom website.)
15 AIP Diet Recipes
As you’ll see, just because you’re limited with ingredients, doesn’t mean that meals have to be monotonous or boring. In fact I found plenty of new foods and AIP Diet recipes while moving my way through the phases of the diet that I now include in my regular weekly menu.
AIP Breakfast Recipes
We’ll start with some of my go to AIP friendly recipes to start your day with.
1. Sweet Potato Breakfast Hash
Starting the day with sweet potatoes is my breakfast of choice, so I enjoy this Sweet Potato Breakfast Hash regularly when following the AIP Diet. The combination of simple yet nutritious ingredients will easily keep you full until lunch.
You simply fry up your choice of AIP compliant vegetables in a frying pan, along with coconut oil or olive oil to incorporate plenty of healthy fats.
Examples of good options for AIP complliant vegetables that you can include in your breakfast hash are onion, garlic, leek, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy, spinach, kale or green onion. I’ve also included apples for added nutrition, and you can include peeled red or green apple.
2. Mango Smoothie
This easy AIP breakfast recipe is a sweet way to start your day. Simply blend together just 2 ingredients – frozen mangoes and coconut milk to create a refreshing Mango Smoothie.
3. Honey & Garlic Salmon
I’ve been trying to enjoy more salmon and other healthy fish/seafood options in my diet. So, there’s no better way to do just that than starting the day with a healthy portion of nourishing salmon.
The salmon is fried with mushrooms in the above picture, but it’s also perfect cooked with broccoli, leafy greens or your breakfast veggie of choice.
To prepare the sauce for the salmon, whisk together the following marinade ingredients in a bowl:
- 1 Tablespoon Honey or Maple Syrup
- 2 teaspoons Coconut Aminos
- 2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
- Salt
- 1/2 to 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice or Lime Juice
Then, melt coconut oil in a frying pan, cook your veggies of choice until almost done and then add the salmon, skin side down. Pour over half of the marinade, cook for a few minutes and then flip the salmon over and pour over the other half of the marinade. Then, simply cook until the salmon is done to your liking.

Easy AIP Meals
These autoimmune protocol recipes are perfect to enjoy for lunch or dinner.
4. Meat and Vegetables
It really doesn’t get easier than a meal of meat and a couple of vegetables. Simply fry up a couple of AIP compliant vegetables, I’ve gone for broccoli and mushrooms in the above pictured meal.
Then, cook a lamb chop, steak or any other quick cooking piece of meat you like and enjoy as a quick meal.
5. Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pie
You could meal prep sweet potato shepherd’s pie over the weekend to re-heat and enjoy by the portion through the week. The simple recipe is another hearty meal to enjoy sweet potatoes on the AIP Diet.
6. Cauliflower Risotto
Turn cauliflower rice into a cauliflower risotto, loaded with mushrooms and any chopped leftover chicken breast or meat you have.
7. Soup
There are plenty of AIP compliant soup recipes to choose from, including vegetable soup, chicken soup, oxtail soup or beef and mushroom soup.
I try to include bone broth, chicken broth or soup in some form in my diet regularly to take advantage of the numerous immune system boosting and other health benefits the easy AIP recipes offer.
8. Carrot and Orange Salad
This carrot and orange salad makes a refreshing meal for lunch or a light dinner for an easy weeknight meal.
9. Egg Roll In A Bowl
Turn ground beef mince into a warming egg roll in a bowl that’s a flavorful meal and always a hit with the whole family.
You can swap the beef for ground chicken and add in any other AIP friendly vegetables you like to the special meal.
10. Burger & Pesto
For this great recipe, form beef mince into burger patties, along with a shake of salt and your AIP spices of choice. (I usually just include salt and then flavor with avocado and pesto sauce.)
Then, simply fry the burger patties in coconut oil and enjoy in a lettuce cup as a bun with avocado and homemade pesto as sauce.
11. Cauliflower Mash
You may simply feel like a creamy bowl of cauliflower mash for a light AIP Diet meal.
12. Rib Ragu
This rib ragu is an autoimmune diet friendly recipe that makes a hearty, warming comfort food meal that you can enjoy by the bowl full or with cauliflower mash as a creamy side.
13. Pesto Chicken Bake
This pesto chicken bake is made with a quick homemade pesto that helps to cook the chicken to tender, flavorful pieces in a one pot meal that’s easy to prepare and a delight to enjoy.
14. Beef Stew
Beef stew makes a super simple, hearty one pot meal, with the particular recipe having only a handful of fresh ingredients and being easy to prepare.
15. Honey Roasted Chicken Thighs
And the final auto immune protocol friendly meal are these easy honey roasted chicken thighs that are always a welcome sight on the dinner table.
