Keto Breakfast Ideas With Eggs
You can enjoy eggs any way for your morning meal, with veggies and/or meat as one of the easiest keto breakfast ideas.
Simply combine together eggs any way you like, a portion of vegetables and an optional meaty side, all cooked in plenty of butter, olive oil or coconut oil for added healthy fats.
It really doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some ideas for ways to enjoy eggs in your low carb breakfast.
You could enjoy a breakfast classic of Scrambled Eggs with avocado on the side, a cheesy omelette with spinach on the side or even a pizza omelette as a healthy breakfast.
Another option is a fry up with fried eggs, vegetables and either a meaty option, like bacon or steak, or a vegetarian option like fried halloumi.
The best part is that any of these healthy keto breakfast recipes can also be enjoyed in a bowl like the above Superfood Breakfast Bowl which includes scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, avocado and fried zucchini.
Waffles make an indulgent breakfast that you can enjoy with your toppings of choice, such as whipped cream, berries, nuts or even a fried egg.
I’ve shared recipes for Almond Flour and Coconut Flour Waffles, both of which contain eggs and are low in grams of carbs, and I’m also working on a waffle recipe without eggs – watch this space!
Another low carb friendly decadent breakfast option is keto pancakes. Choose from fluffy pancakes with almond flour, coconut flour or even chocolate pancakes that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
You could also choose from a couple of make ahead breakfast options. Either you can prepare the above meal prep boxes, which include scrambled eggs, salami and fried vegetables. (Where to find meal prep containers.)
In the morning you can just grab and enjoy breakfast on go. Or, just pop all the contents into the frying pan to heat through with no prep needed.
Another easy low carb breakfast recipe is a breakfast casserole. Simply fry up your go to breakfast vegetables and meats, move them into a baking dish and top with eggs, heavy whipping cream and cheese.
The hearty breakfast casserole can be cooked straight away or stored in the fridge and then baked fresh in the morning.
You could also keep a bowl full of hard boiled eggs in the fridge and then easily grab a couple to have on the go in the morning. Or, you could make deviled eggs with smoked salmon.
Keto Breakfast Ideas With No Eggs
Despite popular belief, Keto breakfast does not have to equal eggs. It is possible to have lovely low carb breakfasts without eggs. Here are some easy ideas.
Chia Pudding – best prepared in advance to enjoy on busy mornings, a chia pudding can easily be adapted to be keto, by including as low a carb yogurt as possible and adding in some nourishing heavy cream to elevate the fat content.
You can top your chia pudding with berries, nuts, seeds, coconut or more chia seeds. You can also feel free to mix through your keto-friendly sweetener of choice to sweeten your chia pudding.
Shake or Smoothie – a breakfast smoothie or shake is easy on keto, simply combine together your go to low carb diet milk, such as unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk, yogurt and/or cream together with a handful or berries and a scoop of protein powder.
You’ll enjoy a fully balanced breakfast that takes little to no time to prepare.
Another option is to put together a smoothie bowl. Simply add a bit of ice to your go to smoothie, to thicken the texture, and pour into a bowl. Top with berries, nuts and chia seeds.
Low carb granola – spend a bit of time of the weekend making a homemade keto granola that you can mix through keto friendly yogurt or milk.
Platter – keeping a number of breakfast food options in the fridge means you can easily put together a breakfast platter like the above pictured one that’s low in total carbs. This one has salami, grated cheese, feta and avocado.
Breakfast Fry Up – you can simply fry up your favourite breakfast vegetables and meat and skip the eggs altogether.
Go for keto breakfast foods like mushrooms, spinach and sausages, fried up with plenty of butter or coconut oil.
Start your day with a bite sized sweet treat such as fat bombs or no bake peanut butter cookies that you can grab and go, enjoying with a cup of keto coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
Hot Chocolate or Bulletproof Coffee – if you don’t feel like eating for breakfast, then you could make a hot chocolate or bulletproof coffee instead. I find a hot chocolate keeps me full for hours and I can easily manage with only that for breakfast sometimes.
So, as you can tell, there really are so many delicious options to choose from when it comes to Keto Breakfast Foods – both with and without eggs. You can enjoy a couple of options through the week or a different breakfast every day of the week.
