Lazy Keto Breakfast Foods

These lazy keto breakfast foods will help you create a tasty selection of low carb friendly meals to start your day with.

All of the lazy keto recipes are low in grams of carbs and high in healthy fats, to help with your weight loss and health goals, which is perfect for keto beginners or those who have been following a low carb lifestyle for a while and looking for breakfast inspiration.

A traditional keto diet involves meticulously counting calories and macros, whereas a lazy keto diet involves filling your plate with low carb high fat foods and eating more intuitively. That’s my way of following keto and I’ve shared all my tips for following a low carb diet this way in my post about how to do lazy keto.

Eggs Any Way

Lazy Keto Breakfast Foods - Fried Eggs and Vegetables

There are so many different ways to enjoy eggs as part of a lazy keto diet breakfast for your most important meal of the day. You can enjoy, fried, scrambled, poached or an omelette with all kinds of low carb friendly fillings and sides.

Choose from meaty breakfast inclusions such as crispy bacon, sausages, steak, ground beef or any leftover meats you have in your fridge or vegetarian options like grated cheese, brie or feta.

I like to include a serve of vegetables with my breakfast to get may day started with a fiber rich element in my meal. Choose from the following low carb friendly vegetables:

  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower or cauliflower rice
  • Spinach
  • Zucchini
  • Asparagus
  • Radish
  • Onion
  • Garlic

To make the above breakfast plate, saute asparagus, or your low carb friendly vegetable of choice, in butter until almost cooked, then add spinach until wilted and finally a generous dollop (or 2) of Mascarpone Cheese or Heavy Cream.

Move your creamed spinach and asparagus to a plate and then fry your eggs until done to your liking.

Lazy Keto breakfast crispy cheese fried eggs

Another favorite easy breakfast of mine is crispy cheese fried eggs. Simply crack a couple of eggs into a frying pan which is hot and has heaps of melted butter, olive oil or coconut oil in it.

As soon as you’ve cracked the eggs, sprinkle over a generous couple of handfuls (or more) of grated cheese.

Then, you watch and wait as the eggs cook and the cheese becomes crispy. And, you have the most AMAZING crispy edged, cheesy eggs which makes a hearty comfort food meal. (Here are more keto comfort foods.)

You can serve this cheesy breakfast on it’s own, or with a side of raw or briefly sauteed spinach, which I find helps to balance the richness of the breakfast. (And starts your day with a healthy portion of greens, too!)

No Cook Lazy Keto Breakfast Foods

No Cook Savory Plate

Fill a plate or meal prep container with simple ingredients that require no cooking in the morning for a great way to enjoy a grab and go savory lazy keto breakfast.

Here are some ideas for foods to fill your plate or container with for the perfect breakfast:

  • Avocado
  • Hard Boiled Eggs or deviled eggs
  • Cooked Meat, Salami, Smoked Salmon, Tuna, Keto Sausage, Pork Rinds or Deli Meat
  • Cheese – feta cheese, parmesan cheese, goats cheese, grated cheese, slice of cheese or cream cheese
  • Spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, tomato or red peppers
  • Pickles or sauerkraut
  • Sour Cream
  • Nuts & Seeds

Breakfast Parfait

Simple low carb breakfast parfait

When you don’t feel like eggs or a savory breakfast, then a breakfast parfait is the perfect way to start your day on your keto journey.

You can even make the delicious breakfast ahead of time and have it ready and waiting for you to grab and go in the morning.

Start with a low carb friendly yogurt. I find that unsweetened plain, natural or Greek yogurt tends to have the lowest carb content.

The yogurt that I found from ALDI was only 70 cents, so it’s easy to use a portion as a base for a cheap keto breakfast.

Then, it’s just a matter of flavoring and sweetening the breakfast, to taste. Here are some ideas for keto foods to include in your breakfast:

  • Stevia or your sweetener of choice
  • Fresh berries or frozen strawberries, raspberries or blueberries
  • Lemon zest/juice
  • Chia seeds
  • Chia jam (here’s an easy recipe)
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Peanut butter
  • Chocolate – cocoa powder, cacao nibs or grated keto chocolate
  • Keto Granola – bought or homemade

Smoothies & Shakes

Lazy keto breakfast smoothie

Quick grab and go lazy keto breakfast ideas are smoothies or shakes with low carb ingredients such as almond milk or coconut milk, keto yogurt, protein powder, stevia and berries all blended together for a drinkable breakfast.

You could add in almond butter or peanut butter for a peanut butter smoothie that’s perfect for a low carb high-fat diet or even cream cheese for a cheesecake flavored smoothie.

For a simple keto shake find the lowest carb protein powder you can (like this one) and then mix it up according to directions.

To bring the fat content up, add a couple of healthy tablespoons of cream. I usually add whatever cream I have in the fridge at the time. (I always have cream in the fridge, usually a selection too to add lots of fat to meals!)

Then, give it all a good shake and you have breakfast to enjoy while you’re on the go.

Coconut Flour and Almond Flour

Coconut flour and almond flour can find their way into simple keto pancakes, waffles or bread. You can make a batch over the weekend to reheat and enjoy as speedy breakfasts through the week on your lazy keto meal plan.

Chia Seed Pudding

When you’re thinking easy low-carb diet breakfast ideas for your weekly meal plan and you don’t feel like eggs, then you can’t go past a convenient chia pudding, including an indulgent keto chocolate chia pudding.

Chia seeds are nutritional powerhouses, packed full of protein, omega 3 and a host of essential nutrients. (Source.)

Mix together the following:

  • Berries – strawberries, blueberries or raspberries
  • Full-Fat Yogurt – such as Greek, natural or plain yogurt
  • Cream, almond milk or coconut milk
  • Chia Seeds

Regarding quantities, it really depends on whether you’re counting your macros and also the flavor you’re after with your chia pudding.

I tend to add 2 teaspoons of chia seeds and a small handful of berries and then cream/yogurt until it’s the consistency I’m after.

Place all of the ingredients into a bowl, mix and enjoy. You can also prepare the chia pudding in advance the night before and have a thick pudding waiting for you to grab and go in the morning.

Hot Drink and Sweet Treat

Sometimes all you can stomach in the morning is a hot drink and sweet bite, and there are plenty of keto friendly options to choose from when you crave a simple breakfast.

Make a bulletproof coffee, tea or hot chocolate and enjoy your warming drink with a make ahead sweet treat such as no bake peanut butter cookies or fat bombs for the perfect lazy keto breakfast that’s low in total carbs.
